Cold air from the basement of this townhome near Mt. Hope had a clear pathway up to the attic, making the bedroom wall cold to the touch.  By sealing off the airflow at the basement and attic, we can keep the warm air in the house where it belongs.

This basement below the master bedroom had no insulation and was preventing this home from heating and cooling properly. The master bedroom felt drafty and was always hotter or colder than the rest of the home. We sealed the flooring and walls and insulated it to prevent excess air from entering and leaving through the basement. This customer was losing a lot of heat through the poorly insulated attic but was afraid that if we insulated it correctly she would no longer have a storage space. We installed an insulated decking for storage near the hatch and built a retaining wall to install further insulation to keep the air in the house contained without losing the homeowners storage space. 

We had to install foam board over this stairway to complete the thermal barrier and install cellulose in the attic.
