As an NYSERDA-approved participating contractor, True Energy Solutions can offer solar energy incentives to homeowners throughout Greater Rochester. NY-Sun also offers additional incentives to some homeowners through Affordable Solar, which increases the amount received for households earning less than 80 percent of the median income in the area.

Affordable Solar incentives are similar to those offered by NY-Sun, except they require minor low-cost energy efficiency upgrades to your home. You can apply for the Affordable Solar Incentive by simply completing the Affordable Solar Incentive Eligibility Application [PDF].

Stress-free financing options for solar energy

NYSERDA also offers stress-free solar financing, including On-Bill Recovery, Smart Energy, and Companion loans, helping homeowners finance their solar energy projects. Lower-income residents who do not qualify for traditional financing may be eligible for loans with lower interest rates. If your project exceeds the loan amount, a Companion Loan is available for additional financing.

Loan options:

• On-Bill Recovery Loans

  Residential On-Bill Recovery loans take the stress out of trying to manage your installation costs by adding them as a line item to your monthly utility bill. If you decide to move, the unpaid balance can be transferred to the new homeowners.

• Smart Energy Loans

  With a residential Smart Energy Loan, repayments are made directly to NYSERDA's loan servicer. Interest rates are subject to the customer's credit qualification.

• Companion Loans

  A Companion Loan helps homeowners access additional financing for projects that exceed the $25,000 cap set for the On-Bill Recovery and Smart Energy loans. To qualify for a Companion Loan, you must first meet the $25,000 On-Bill Recovery and Smart Energy Loan limit. Interest rates are 6.49% (by ACH) or 6.99% (by check).

• Renewable Energy Tax Credit Bridge Loan

  The Renewable Energy Tax Credit Bridge Loan is a short-term loan option that lets homeowners finance federal and state tax credits and the NYC Real Property Tax Abatement for eligible renewable energy system products. The Bridge Loan has a balloon payment of principal and interest due at the maturity and can be paid by check or ACH payment. You can pair this option with the Smart Energy or On-Bill Recovery Loan, where the total cannot exceed $25,000. You can also join the Bridge option with a Companion Loan. Interest rates are subject to the customer's qualification.
